Let’s start with the results of our LinkedIn poll: What would attract you most to a new role?
The most picked option was ‘awesome flexibility’ coming in with 50% of the responses. This was followed by 23% for ‘a share of equity in the business’, and a further 22% picking ‘an environment of integrity’. Only 6% of respondents chose the remaining option, ‘high commission’ as their top attraction to a new role.
Do these results surprise you? Perhaps the more remote and hybrid work arrangements we habituated to over the pandemic have offered us freedoms we no longer want to trade in. A share of equity in the business may signal that we also want to play a greater role in the decisions that affect our future and to invest effort where we stand to reap longer-term rewards. We’ll let you in on a secret – we will be growing our team in the new year and we wanted to get a sense of what new recruits might be looking for. This poll received over 200 responses through our LinkedIn network, and it’s just a snapshot, but we are committed to growing together. In that spirit we will offer an ambitious individual who wants to journey with us a share of equity in the business. Sound good? Then we should talk soon!

The Free Mindfulness Project – free resources to close off 2021 and kick-off 2022
We are all familiar with mindfulness – right? Mindfulness is something that we can bring to any aspect of our day-to-day life, and work. It can be described as paying attention to what we are experiencing in the moment, with a specific mindset of curiosity, acceptance, and warmth. Mindfulness is excellent for watching where our attention goes, without getting too caught up in particular experiences. The festive season is an excellent time to explore mindfulness practice, not only because it creates pause points between one-year closing and another opening, but also because this is often a busy time socially, and potentially a pressured time financially.
The Free Mindfulness Project is a collaboration to bring some of the many free resources developed by organisations that teach mindfulness, to you. From a 3-minute breathing exercise to dip a toe in the water, through to more comprehensive stress reduction approaches, you can find them all on the website here. The exercises are free to download and distribute non-commercially. Given the year we’ve had – that’s a great festive gift to yourself, and to share with others.
